Women's HEART DAY - NJ
On February 4, 2006, the Women's Heart Foundation
organized a GO Red Day - Rally and health expo to launch the 10,000 steps campaign - at the Trenton War Memorial from 1:00 - 5:00 PM, in association with the American Heart Association
Go Red campaign and in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services,
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Curves®.
Major sponsors included U.S Department of Health and Human Services as
part of the NIH Health Heart Truth project
and L'Oreal USA. More than 600 women and their families attended the event.
Assistant Commissioner of Health Eddie Bresnitz delivered the proclamation
for Go Red day and Women's Heart Week, on behalf of the Governor.
WHF celebrated volunteers with awards and reception. Leading women's
heart health advocates in the state were recognized:
Kathleen Ashton, PhD, RN, Volunteer of the Year Award for her role as Principal Investigator of the WHF Teen Esteem Project
Peri Nearon, Director, NJ Office on Women's Health, Executive Leadership Award
Ruthann Bailey, Civic Leadership Award for her health advocacy at Trenton Central High School

organized by the Women’s Heart Foundation with funding
provided by Region II Office on Women’s Health, US Department
of Health and Human Services, as part of the National Health
Institute’s Heart Truth Project. This was a Free Program for Women and their families.
