WOMEN'S HEART FOUNDATON WELCOMES NEW BOARD

Trenton, New Jersey. The Women's Heart Foundation held its annual meeting in September at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) in New Brunswick. The following trustees were elected to serve: Bonnie Hartman Arkus, founder; Marianne T. Balay, Director, Women's Health Services at RWJUH, New Brunswick, NJ; Steven Franzman, speaker for The Sharing Network of NJ; Marcus Garand, Registered Dietitian, RWJUH, New Brunswick, NJ; Annari Griesal, Director of Pastoral Care, JFK Medical Center, Edison, NJ; Iris Kislin, Vice President, the Fischer Ross Group, New York, NY; Mary Lou Kramli; Linda Lengyel; Beverly Matthews; Sarjita Naik, PharmD, RWHUH, New Brunswick, NJ; and Kris Olson, MS, RN, NP, C, Capital Health System, Trenton, NJ. The following slate of officers was elected by the board: President: Arkus, Vice-President: Kramli; Treasurer: Matthews; Secretary: Garand; The following Vice Chairs were approved by unanimous vote: Franzman - Vice Chair Nominations/Recruitment; Olson - Vice Chair Education/Programs. Balay was elected Chairwoman of the Board. The Vice Chairs for Communications and for Fund Raising remained vacant at this time.

The board unanimously approved the following Administrative Appointments:

The board unanimously approved the following Event Chairs:

A vacancy exists for chair of "Arch in the Park" Craft Show and Festival at WCSP for May 3 and 4, 2003.

The board unanimously approved the appointment of the following Honorary National Spokeswomen:

  • Cynthia Stephans, Mrs. New Jersey 2002 - promoting stroke awareness in women;
  • Kathrine Switzer - author of "Running and Walking for Women Over 40, the Road to Sanity and Vanity" - promoting women and walking. At a later meeting November 2002, the Board welcomed Richard O. Belanger as a new trustee by appointment. Belanger is President of Nutra PR, New York, NY and will serve as Vice Chair/Director of Public Relations & Communications.
